(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Thousands of New Yorkers have left their state and moved to Florida where housing is cheaper and the sun is brighter. Real estate brokerage Redfin released a recent report in Late November, where they pointed out that in Florida areas like North Port-Sarasota, Orlando and Tampa were becoming the most sought-after areas in the state with many homebuyers looking to relocate in those areas. These areas are also a top choice for those from New York who are leaving the state.

In October, 3,700 people moved from out of state to Orlando, with the majority of those having originally moved from New York. The report found that Orlando was the third most popular metro city, right after Sacramento in California and Las Vegas in Nevada for homebuyers to be moving to.

There were a total of 3,600 people, the majority of whom were New Yorkers who ended up moving in the same month from North Port to Sarasota. There were around 2,800 homebuyers, the majority of whom had moved from New York City, that had ended up in Tampa.

Redfin found that while many homebuyers were moving from New York City to Tampa and Orlando, the top destination for the people who had ended up leaving New York City was Miami. Redfin calculated the total number of people moving to Sacramento in October to be 5,000.

There has been a general movement with many homebuyers leaving more expensive cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.
