The New York Times published a profile on Wednesday focusing on the private life of Melania Trump in the four years since the Trumps left the White House. In the last few months, Melania Trump has notably kept her life completely private, not appearing on the campaign trail along with her husband at all. She has also avoided attending any of the court hearings that Trump has had to attend.
Former president Donald Trump has been indicted twice in the past year. The first indictment in New York City relates to the falsification of business records connected to a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential campaign. The second case relates to a federal investigation into his mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House in 2021. The documents were recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last year.
Those in Trump’s circle have maintained that while Melania Trump is not willing to make public appearances, she continues to support her husband in private and often defends him. The report also claimed that Melania Trump believed that Trump was capable of winning the presidential race in 2024, regardless of the legal issues that he was facing.
Previously, Melania Trump had often made headlines as she appeared to publicly avoid her husband. In 2017, the couple had gone viral after the then-first lady had swatted her husband’s hand away during a diplomatic trip.
