(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Thursday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) during a closed-door conference aired his frustrations about his party’s hardliners who are refusing to allow the appropriations to proceed. Reportedly, he also dropped the f-bomb while referring to the threats by some of his critics to have him ousted.
According to Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), during the meeting, McCarthy reportedly stated that if someone wanted to have him ousted then they should file the “f—ing” motion to vacate.
This is a reference to the threats that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) made earlier this week in which he claimed that should McCarthy not push for the spending priorities that he had promised in January while trying to win the Speakership vote, then he would file a motion for McCarthy to vacate his position.
For months, hard-line conservatives have been fighting with the House Republican leadership over the spending bills, and the Department of Defense (DOD) appropriation bill is only the latest of these debates.
Following the meeting, McCarthy revealed to reporters that he had shown how frustrated he was with certain people at the conference. He added that yesterday, they were not able to put the DOD appropriations bill on the floor even though it was ready. He proceeded to note that thus far there is not a single member of his conference that has filed a complaint to let him know what is wrong with the bill.
Congress has until September 30th to pass either a short- or long-term funding bill. If they fail to do so the government could end up shutting down.
