(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Supporters of former President Donald Trump have revealed a plan that would allow them to still vote for Trump even if he is disqualified from being on the presidential ballot in 2024 under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. Their plan is to submit write-in ballots with the name of the candidate they are looking to support.
The Constitution’s 14th Amendment disqualifies anyone who held office and “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” from holding office again. Professors Michael Stokes Paulsen and William Baude, who are associated with the Federalist Society, analyzed in a 126-page report the argument that can be made for Trump’s disqualification because of the 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment could disqualify Trump and possibly others from holding office again because of their role in the attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Many prominent Democrats have also supported the idea that the Amendment blocks Trump from appearing in the 2024 ballots. Rep. Adam Schiff has previously claimed that the 14th Amendment “fits Donald Trump to a T” while Sen. Tim Kaine has said that they could make a “powerful argument” about the disqualification.
The 2024 Republican primary polls have thus far shown that Trump is the clear leader in the presidential race and is the preferred GOP nominee by GOP voters. However, this position has led many to question whether or not he should be allowed to run for a second term due to his attempts to change the 2020 election results.
The former President has maintained that has done nothing wrong and that all the cases brought forth against him were politically motivated.
