On the eve of President Trump’s state visit to Britain, London’s Islamic mayor Sadiq Khan unleashed a torrent of invective against the U.S. President, saying that he should not be invited to the UK because he is the figurehead of a “global threat” against Western civilization. Khan, who wouldn’t know Western civilization if it slapped him in the forehead, said that Trump and other right-wing populists like Nigel Farage were little more than the modern embodiment of “20th-century fascists.”
Khan said that Trump was guilty of using “xenophobia, racism, and ‘otherness’ as an electoral tactic.” He accused the president of “introducing a travel ban to a number of predominately Muslim countries,” which is, we suppose what Khan continues to hold against Trump the most. Never mind that these so-called “Muslim countries” are some of the worst hotbeds for Islamic terrorism in the world. No, we should ignore that and just open our shores to whatever ISIS-sympathetic psychopath that wants to come to America and wreak havoc. Far better than we should watch buildings and buses explode than we should offend Muslims in Yemen.
“Donald Trump is just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat,” wrote Khan in an op-ed. “The far right is on the rise around the world. Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Matteo Salvini in Italy, Marine Le Pen in France and Nigel Farage here in the UK are using the same divisive tropes of the fascists of the 20th century to garner support.”
Khan, who has done everything in his power to ignore the deleterious effects Muslim migration has had on London and the rest of the UK, said that it was “un-British to be rolling out the red carpet this week for a formal state visit.” Trump, he claimed, was not a spokesman for “equality, liberty, and religious freedom.”
“At what point,” he asked, “should we stop appeasing – and implicitly condoning – his far-right policies and views? Where do we draw the line?”
Yes, British leaders should instead be condoning the wonderful Islamic principles of Sharia Law, anti-Semitism, and encroaching caliphates. They should be condoning the failed policies of unrestrained migration, which has turned parts of Europe into enclaves indistinguishable from the Middle East. They should be condoning elitist rule that declares “diversity” to be a cultural good unmatched by any value ever dreamed of by the West.
The tide is turning against those sentiments, both in the U.S. and across the pond. Useless, pandering liberals like Sadiq Khan are, hopefully, on their way out of our lives forever. We suppose some bitterness is to be expected.
