(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Monday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) slammed the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutors after the announcement that they would seek arrest warrants for Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for having committed crimes against humanity.
In his statement, Graham argued that this decision was a “slap in the face” of Israel’s independent judiciary system. He added that this was a country known for its independence and is not even a member of the ICC. For this reason, he would be looking to enforce sanctions against the ICC.
As he argued they needed to remember that the International Criminal Court has in the past also threatened to bring forth charges against the U.S. forces in Afghanistan, even though the U.S. is not a participating member. He continued by stating that he would work with his colleagues from both parties in Congress to bring forward sanctions against the ICC.
Karim Khan, a prosecutor, has argued that Gallant, Netanyahu, as well as three Hamas officials, are all responsible for having committed crimes against humanity and war crimes in Israel and Gaza.
According to the estimations by Gaza health officials since the war in Gaza began in October, there have been over 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza who have lost their lives, many of them women and children. The war started in retaliation to the events of Oct. 7th, when Hamas killed over 1,000 Israelis.
Graham has argued that Khan’s team of prosecutors had informed him that they would first investigate the matter before deciding to bring forward any charges.
