On Saturday, Vice President Harris was forced to switch planes while making her way back from Europe after a technical issue led to Air Force Two being grounded. Harris, who had just attended the Munich Security Conference, boarded a backup C-17 support plane in order to return to D.C.

A Biden administration official told reporters that the reason for the switch in the aircraft was because of maintenance difficulties that made Air Force Two unfit to fly. No further information regarding the switch has been released by the White House.

Harris, who spoke during the event in Munich, said that the United States has formally determined that Russia’s war in Ukraine has resulted in the country committing many crimes against humanity. In her speech at the U.S., Harris said that Russia would be held accountable.

She added that all those who “perpetrated these crimes,” “their superiors” and those “complicit” will all be held accountable. She continued by saying that it was important for all victims to make sure that justice had been served. This is why the U.S. will continue to provide assistance to the judicial system in Ukraine and international investigations.

During the event, Harris met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as well as Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin.
