(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris doubled down on her belief President Biden could beat Trump in 2024.
In an interview on CBS News on Tuesday, Harris confidently reiterated her support for Biden despite increasing calls for him to step aside from the presidential race following last week’s debate performance.
“Joe Biden is our nominee,” Harris declared, explaining the duo “beat Trump once” and would “beat him [again]. Period.”
When queried if she was ready to step in as President if necessary, Harris replied that she is “proud” to be “Biden’s running mate.”
The Vice President’s remarks came in response to a question about Democratic Rep. Lloyd Dogget’s (Texas) public plea for the aging President to step aside from the 2024 Presidential race. So far, Doggett has been the only House Democrat to do so.
Doggett’s plea followed Biden’s terrible debate performance against Trump.
Throughout the 90-minute broadcast, Biden, 81, repeatedly lost his train of thought, stumbled over his words, and found it incredibly challenging to string together a coherent idea or make a powerful rebuttal.
During the debate, Biden’s statements even prompted Trump, 78, to share that he didn’t understand what a raspy-voiced Biden was trying to say.
Democrats panicked after Biden’s debate performance, with reports surfacing that some had discussed finding an alternative to Biden as the debate was ongoing.
However, it’s up to Biden whether or not he steps aside as the Democratic Party’s 2024 Presidential nominee, as he has already won the primaries and couldn’t be overthrown at the Democratic National Convention.
