Kamala Harris Says “Hate Crimes” Should Be Focus of Jussie Smollett Story

Leave it to Sen. Kamala Harris, who tried her damnedest to turn Jussie Smollett’s story into yet another reason to bash conservative America and all those evil, ugly, deplorable Trump supporters, to find a way to avoid taking responsibility for the farce this whole thing turned out to be. Instead of swallowing her medicine and admitting that we have a real problem in this country with a media willing to take even the slightest evidence and turn it into a national case against Trump, Harris said our focus must remain on rising hate crimes.

To catch you up to speed (as if you need it), Jussie Smollett – an actor on the hit TV show “Empire” – made headlines last month when he claimed to have been attacked in downtown Chicago by a group of thugs who beat him and threw a noose around his neck. “This is MAGA country,” they yelled at the fallen actor, who narrowly escaped with his life. Smollett’s story became an instant flashpoint for a media that’s always looking for the next evidence that we’re living in Nazi Germany under the leadership of Herr Trump. Naturally, that led to liberal politicians like Harris popping out of their gopher holes to comment on the situation.

“@JussieSmollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery,” Harris tweeted on Jan 29. “This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.”

Of course, as you know by now, the whole incident was made up and orchestrated by Smollett in an effort to up his television paycheck. Now, having been arrested and disgraced, those who came out so strongly against – well, MAGA country – are having to do some soul searching of their own.

But don’t expect Harris (or any other SJW liberal) to dig too deeply.

“Like most of you, I’ve seen the reports about Jussie Smollett, and I’m sad, frustrated, and disappointed,” Harris wrote on Facebook. “When anyone makes false claims to police, it not only diverts resources away from serious investigations but it makes it more difficult for other victims of crime to come forward.

“At the same time, we must speak the truth: hate crimes are on the rise in America,” she continued. “Just last year, the FBI released statistics that revealed a 17 percent increase in the number of hate crimes in America. Part of the tragedy of this situation is that it distracts from that truth, and has been seized by some who would like to dismiss and downplay the very real problems that we must address. We should not allow that. I will always condemn racism and homophobia. We must always confront hate directly, and we must always seek justice. That is what I will keep fighting for.”

You can’t help but be reminded of the feminists who used that infamous Rolling Stone “A Rape on Campus” story to push their psychosexual agenda…only to say, after the hoax was revealed, that this specific story really wasn’t the point. We’re pretty sure we heard similar things when the real story of the Michael Brown case came out. And then again when some of the Kavanaugh accusers lost all their credibility. And then one more time after the Covington Catholic incident. To these idiots, the story is ALWAYS the story…until the story is proven false. Then it’s just an unimportant detail in a larger picture.
