(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – In a hypothetical 2024 Democratic primary survey where President Biden was not a candidate, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is only behind Vice President Harris.

The poll surveyed 2,194 people, and even without Biden’s support, Harris was leading the poll with 32 percent of responders preferring her over other nominees. Trailing behind her was Hillary Clinton, who has previously run for the White House twice. If she chose to run in 2024 the poll showed that 20 percent of respondents would select her.

Other front runners included Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) each of whom received 11, 10, and 8 percent, respectively. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and former Georgia gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams were also included in the poll and managed to receive more than 4 percent. Every other potential candidate in the poll did not manage to meet the 4 percent threshold.

President Biden is widely considered to be preparing to announce his presidential campaign for 2024. The State of the Union address is viewed by many as a stepping stone that the President has used to gain more support for some of the key issues and policies in his agenda. However, polls have also shown that most Democrats would prefer someone other than Biden to be the Democratic nominee in 2024.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the former Speaker, told CNN that she doubted any other Democrat would choose to run for the White House and challenge Biden if the President decides to run.
