James Comey Endorses Biden. Biden Says No Thanks.

Even for the left, there are some personalities too toxic to endure. If you wanted to shore up the Democratic nomination, you wouldn’t accept or appreciate an endorsement from, say, Harvey Weinstein.

At least not this year, you wouldn’t.

And apparently former FBI Director James Comey fits this unwanted bill as well. When Comey announced on Tuesday that he was throwing his support behind Joe Biden, the former vice president’s campaign asked if there was somewhere they could go to return it like a bad Christmas present.

Comey, who seems to be dedicating his life to his Twitter account after life in the FBI, wrote Tuesday that he was voting for the party that was “dedicated to restoring values” to the White House.

“I agree with @amyklobuchar: We need candidate who cares about all Americans and will restore decency, dignity to the office,” Comey wrote. “There is a reason Trump fears @joebiden and roots for Bernie. #Biden2020.”

Instead of thanking Comey for his support, Biden campaign official Andrew Bates tweeted: “Yes, customer service? I just received a package that I very much did not order. How can I return it, free of charge?”

You have to somewhat temper your appreciation for this snark, of course; the left hates Comey because they think that he cost Hillary Clinton the presidency in 2016, not because he did everything he could to sink President Donald Trump’s first months in office, refusing to tell the public that the president was NOT under personal investigation by the FBI.

And they certainly don’t begrudge Comey for failing to bring charges against Hillary, since they still think that whole email business was something made up by Ye Olde Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.

Even so, it’s good to know that even a few years later, Democrats and Republicans can agree that James Comey sucks…even if we don’t agree on the reason. Nice to know there are still areas of common ground in this divided nation.
