It’s Sad When Joe Biden is Seen as the Moderate in the Room

This week, in an interview with Iowa Starting Line, former Vice President Joe Biden once again tried to remind voters that in a sea of 2020 Democratic insanity, he’s the only adult in the pack. Distancing himself from radical ideas like packing the Supreme Court and throwing open the borders to anyone and everyone who wants to come, Biden mostly just demonstrated how utterly unhinged his party has become. It’s a sad day when merely rejecting the worst of the worst ideas from this party actually qualifies as political moderation.

“No, I’m not prepared to go on and try to pack the Supreme Court, because we’ll live to rue that day,” Biden said.

Several of his fellow candidates have said they would expand the number of justices sitting on the high court in a transparent attempt to reverse the dominant political ideology on the bench. While most of them couch this power play as a response to Mitch McConnell’s refusal to hold hearings on Merrick Garland, it remains a power play. They certainly wouldn’t be talking this way if the court was currently 5-4 in favor of the liberals. And they would be aghast if Trump and the Republicans decided tomorrow to expand that majority to 6 or 7. In fact, they’ll almost certainly cry foul if someone retires or dies in the next year and the Republicans nominate a replacement.

That wasn’t the only policy on which Biden sought to put daylight between himself and his fellow candidates. In an interview with CNN, Biden made it clear that he did not support decriminalizing the act of crossing the border illegally.

“No I don’t,” he said when asked if he supported that policy. “I think people should have to get in line. But if people are coming because they’re actually seeking asylum, they should have a chance to make their case.”

Just think about how sad it is that this is now a “moderate” opinion in the Democratic Party – that illegal immigration should be, you know, ILLEGAL. That’s how absolutely out-to-sea these leftists have become.

Biden is no moderate. He’s not 1992-era Bill Clinton by any stretch of the imagination. But we’re at the point now where the party of Barack Obama has moved far, far to the left of even that socialist-in-the-making. And so this is what Democratic voters are left with.

Well, we suppose you get the party you deserve.
