“I Thought Lynching Was Illegal”: Conservatives Sound Off on Kavanaugh Smear Campaign

If there is anything more reprehensible than the way Democrats on Capitol Hill have comported themselves in the confirmation hearings of Brett Kavanaugh, it is the way the media has reported on the sexual allegations against him. We can’t recall a time in history where a person’s right to due process has been suspended this willfully and gleefully. While it’s not uncommon for an accused celebrity/politician/public figure to be tarred and feathered by the public before all the facts are in, we’ve never seen the press treat evidence THIS flimsy as documentation of a person’s evil deeds.

Whether Kavanaugh successfully overcomes this witch hunt or not – whether he is GUILTY of the allegations against him or not – the media’s role in all of this is no less regrettable. Innocent until proven guilty is the fundamental bedrock upon which our justice system revolves. And it should be the standard by which a responsible free press reports on accusations of wrongdoing. In the media’s zeal to destroy this judge, however, they have abandoned anything resembling journalistic integrity, and they have done so with hatred in their eyes.

“I thought lynching was made illegal and that the burden of proof rested upon the accuser, not the accused,” said William Boykin of the Family Research Council. “Apparently the liberal media thinks the burden of proof is on the accused, while ignoring the sins of their very own people.”

Boykin was hardly the only conservative leader to find himself disgusted with the way the media has treated the Kavanaugh scandal. Terry Schilling, the executive director of the American Principles Project Foundation, said America was witnessing nothing less than a “modern-day version of the Salem Witch Trials.”

“It’s stunning how low the Democrats and their media allies have been willing to go in order to prevent Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court,” Schilling said. “While it is important that information about all reasonable allegations be heard and deliberated on, it is also equally important that Judge Kavanaugh be allowed a forum in which to fairly defend himself. That hasn’t happened.”

Many conservatives wondered why the media and the Democratic Party were not nearly as interested in the physical abuse accusations being levied against Keith Ellison, the deputy chairman of the DNC.

“Democrats and the radical left have no honor,” said Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel. “While refusing to investigate current, ongoing sexual complaints against leaders in their own party, they show no shame in using uncorroborated allegations from over 35-years ago that have been have been denied by anyone with knowledge of the time period. Their character assassination has nothing to do with truth or sexual misconduct but everything to do with abortion and their rejection of a judge who respects the rule of law. They are part of the resistance and we should not underestimate their evil schemes.”

This is a dark period in our democracy, and with new allegations coming via Mr. Creepy Porn Lawyer himself, it’s becoming ever more difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Make no mistake, if the media and the Democrats successfully push Kavanaugh off the nominating block, we will have unleashed something extraordinarily dangerous – not just in our politics, but in our entire society.
