Hunter Biden Wins Lawsuit
Hunter Biden secured a legal victory when Los Angeles federal Judge Hernan Vera ruled in favor of granting him $17,929 in legal fees. The ruling was issued against Garrett Ziegler, a former aide in the Trump White House. The case relates to allegations that Ziegler accessed and circulated Biden’s private data from a laptop allegedly owned by him.
The laptop scandal gained national attention amid the 2020 presidential race, becoming a focal point of heated debates and accusations.
Ziegler worked as an aide to Peter Navarro, President Trump’s trade adviser, from February 2019 to January 2021. He is accused of utilizing his nonprofit website, Marco Polo, to publish content from Biden’s laptop. The website posted sensitive emails, photos, and videos.

“Totally Devoid of Merit”
Judge Vera described Ziegler’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit as “totally devoid of merit.” According to Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, this ruling marks just the beginning of holding Ziegler accountable for his actions. “As we have demonstrated,” Lowell said, “from the time he illegally accessed Mr. Biden’s personal data to his court papers trying to defend his conduct, Mr. Ziegler has violated the law.”
The case isn’t settled yet, with a hearing date set for November 12. Hunter Biden accuses Ziegler of breaching computer fraud and data laws, seeking additional damages and an injunction to prevent Ziegler from retaining his private files.

Broader Legal Context
This lawsuit is not Hunter Biden’s only legal entanglement. He recently pleaded guilty to charges in a $1.4 million tax evasion case, which could result in up to 17 years in prison. Additionally, he faces another potential 25 years imprisonment for owning a firearm while actively using illicit drugs.
Moreover, Biden is involved in litigation with John Paul Mac Isaac, the Delaware computer repair shop owner, over the initial laptop data leak. Federal prosecutors in Delaware have been investigating his tax affairs since at least 2018.
