Hunter Biden has added another high-powered attorney to his legal team as he is preparing to face a federal investigation by the Republicans who have frequently put him at the center of investigations.
Abbe Lowell, of the firm Winston and Strawn, is going to be responsible primarily for Hunter Biden’s response to any congressional oversight investigations. He will also be advising on both legal issues and strategy as an attorney for Hunter Biden.
Kevin Morris, another attorney, noted that Lowell is well known for having represented many public officials and figures who have faced DOJ investigations and trials. “Mr. Lowell will handle congressional investigations and general strategic advice.”
Lowell has not made any comments regarding this.
Lowell will be joining Chris Clark, of Latham & Watkins, who has been representing Biden during his ongoing tax-related investigation by the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware.
Previously Lowell has represented Jared Kushner in congressional investigations and special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian collusion during the Trump campaign ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Other high-profile clients that Lowell has had included former President Bill Clinton, former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., and Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J.
The incoming House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., during a news conference in November had stated that Hunter Biden and the Biden family would be a big focus of the upcoming investigations which will focus on how the family’s business may have “compromise(d) U.S. national security and President Biden’s ability to lead with impartiality.”
The White House has so far maintained that all of the planned investigations are politically motivated and are looking for “partisan attacks on the president and his family that are rooted in nonsensical conspiracy theories.”
