Here’s Why Durham’s Russia Probe Won’t Be Finished Before the Election

Everyone from President Donald Trump on down was bitterly disappointed last week when we learned that U.S. Attorney John Durham’s probe into the origins of the Trump/Russia investigation would not come to fruition before the election. A comprehensive report on the wrongdoing engaged in by Obama and his crooked intelligence apparatus is not only desperately needed to restore justice, it would have been a powerful political weapon to wield in the closing weeks of the race.

Maybe it’s cynical to look at it that way, but since this hoax began as a political investigation, we’re not ashamed to use its resolution in the same way. Not one bit – especially considering Biden’s fingerprints could well be all over this travesty.

In any case, we now have a little more insight as to why we have to wait. CBS News Senior Investigative reporter Catherine Herridge reported Friday that the investigation has been slowed by the pandemic, but it has also expanded to include a much broader look at the Trump/Russia hoax. “It goes well beyond the origins of the FBI/Russia probe,” Herridge wrote.

“This includes Sept 2016 CIA investigative referral to FBI over alleged 3rd party discussion of HRC approved plan ‘concerning candidate Trump + Russian hackers’ + Brennan notes,” Herridge continued. “Separately, official told @CBSNews that if there is a probability of future prosecutions stemming from Durham then there cannot be a report released prior to that. The official would not comment as to whether potential prosecutions are in the works.”

Herridge filed the report after news broke on Friday that Attorney General William Barr has begun informing top Republican on Capitol Hill and in the White House that they should not expect a report from Durham before the election.

“Barr has made clear that they should not expect any further indictments or a comprehensive report before Nov. 3,” Axios reported. “According to one of the sources briefed on the conversations, Barr said Durham is working in a deliberate and calculated fashion, and they need to be patient. The general sense of the talks, the source says, is that Durham is not preoccupied with completing his probe by a certain deadline for political purposes.”

Well, we would frankly rather see this investigation done right than done quickly, but we’re going to be all-the-more irritated if Durham ends his probe next year without bringing charges against anyone involved in this chaotic #Obamagate hoax.
