( – Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) who previously filed an ethics complaint against the New York judge Arthur Engoron who is presiding in the civil fraud case against former President Donald Trump, added to her complaint arguing that Trump had been “wrongfully denied” his motion for a mistrial.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Stefanik noted that she had originally filed the ethics complaint around one week earlier and it had addressed the “partisan antics” in the case against former President Trump. She added that she was now adding to her ethics complaint against Engoron as he had shown “egregious misconduct” by dismissing the motion for mistrial filed by Trump’s legal team.

On Friday, Engoron denied the request filed by Trump’s attorneys arguing that their case did not have any merit.

In the original mistrial request, the former President’s legal team had argued that the judge was biased and had also accused him of judicial misconduct after he had made certain comments demeaning the civil trial and the former President. However, Engoron argued back that the attorneys had been selectively cherry-picking his remarks.

Engoron pointed out specifically that some of the comments the team had made were in “bad faith” and that they had omitted to mention the remarks he had made after the statement.

The original ethics complaint filed by Stefanik had argued that Engoron was biased against the former President and was thus not in a position to make a proper ruling on the case. Last week she wrote that the bizarre behavior of the judge did not belong in the U.S. judicial system.
