Girl Scouts Give Top Award to Member Promoting Abortion

If you thought the Girl Scouts might be a better place for your boys in the wake of the Boy Scouts sudden “wokeness” spasm of insanity, you might want to think again. First of all, we’re not sure the Girl Scouts have fallen so far off the path that they’re allowing boys to don the skirt and sell the cookies. Second, they are apparently an organization fully on board with the progressive agenda, as demonstrated by the member to whom they just awarded their top honors of the year.

According to LifeNews, the Girl Scouts of Arizona have just given their top award to Meghna Gopalan, who earned the Gold Award for working with the Women’s March. They report: “Her project involved working with the pro-abortion Women’s March and its affiliate in Tucson. She said her goal was to ‘educate people about and destigmatize access to women’s health care’ — euphemisms for abortion.”

This isn’t LifeNews running away with themselves, either. From Gopalan’s own mouth: “I’m planning on hosting an event to educate people about and de-stigmatize access to women’s health care. I’ve been working with El Rio Reproductive Health Access Project, and they offered ideas on reproductive health justice, which would broaden the scope of the project a little bit.”

Gopalan said she became interested in the topic “with the Supreme Court nomination of Kavanaugh.”

So yeah.

According to a writeup at The Daily Wire, this relationship between the Girl Scouts and the abortion industry is not exactly a new phenomenon.

“Christy Volanski, co-editor of, said the Girl Scouts have a ‘cozy relationship with the abortion industry,” they reported. “Former Girl Scouts CEO Kathy Clonginer even once admitted on NBC, ‘We partner with many organizations. We have relationships with … Planned Parenthood organizations across the country.”

The report continued: “In a national survey in 2013, 17 Girl Scouts councils admitted to partnering with Planned Parenthood; other councils refuse to answer the survey question. Of the 315 Girl Scout councils in the U.S., 17 councils reported having a relationship with Planned Parenthood and its affiliates, and 49 reported they do not. The other 249 refused to disclose any relationship.”

We’re not sure we’d go as far as conservative writer Jane Chastain in decrying today’s Girl Scouts as a “socialist organization” we should boycott because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was once a member, but there’s little doubt that there are some strong left-wing tendencies running through this group. If you’re a parent with a girl in the Scouts, it’s probably worth figuring out how much of that propaganda is filtering down to your young ones.
