Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) blasted former President Trump on Twitter over his recent comments on the Russia-Ukraine war during a town hall on CNN.

During the town hall, Trump evaded all questions by host Kaitlan Collins regarding which side he wanted to see win the war. He further reiterated his claims that he would have the conflict resolved within “24 hours” and that in his view it was not about winning or losing but rather about stopping the loss of life.

Christie, who is one of Trump’s most vocal critics in the Republican party, took to Twitter to accuse Trump of being Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “puppet.” He further argued that Trump’s refusal to state which of the two sides he wanted to see win was further proof that he was still “Putin’s puppet.”

Republicans have become increasingly divided on how the war in Eastern Europe should be handled, with some arguing that the U.S. should continue providing aid to Ukraine, while others opposing the amounts the federal government has provided in aid. Trump refused to state whether if he became President, he was going to continue providing weapons and funding to Ukraine, and instead reiterated that if he was back in office the war would be settled within a day.

Christie in his tweets alleged that Trump would probably settle the war by handing the Ukraine to Russia.

Christie, who endorsed Trump in 2016, is now one of his most frequent critics and according to some speculations he is considering challenging Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination. Christie himself has disclosed that he would be making a final choice on this within the next few weeks.
