Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) claimed that the reason she stopped attending the Democrat’s “dumb luncheons” was because they just consisted of “old dudes eating Jell-O” and touting their own greatness, according to a new Politico report.
While discussing with GOP lobbyists in Washington D.C., the senator – who was formerly a Democrat, now turned independent – called the lunches “ridiculous” and stated that she had no need to wait an “hour and a half twice a week” on sitting around hearing how great everyone is.
She then proceeded to joke about the Democratic Senators stating that “the Northerners and the Westerners put Cool Whip on their Jell-O, and the Southerners put cottage cheese.”
In December 2022, Sinema registered as an independent which means that in 2024 it will be the first time that she will seek reelection without the support of the Democratic Party. She went on to say that she is no longer “a part of the caucus” and that currently, she was just “formally aligned with the Democrats for committee purposes.” She added that instead of spending her days in events like that, she was choosing to be more productive with her time and work, which is why she has led “every bipartisan vote that’s happened the last two years.”
Apart from the Democrats, Sinema has, in the past, also joked and criticized the GOP, stating that their behavior during the State of the Union address was “disturbing and sad.”
