(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – An American Eagle flight was forced to make an emergency landing because of a passenger’s disruptive behavior.

On Wednesday, American Eagle flight 3921, flying from Chicago to Manchester, New Hampshire, had to divert after a passenger allegedly exposed himself and urinated in the aisle.

Neil McCarthy, a 25-year-old Oregon resident, was subsequently apprehended when the flight landed at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. He was also charged with indecent exposure by the arresting officers.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for New York’s Western District, McCarthy was released shortly after appearing at a federal court in Buffalo.

American Airlines released a statement explaining that the American Eagle flight, operated by Envoy Air, departed Buffalo Niagara International soon after the incident. The airline also thanked the team “for their professionalism” and passengers for “understanding.”

The 25-year-old passenger revealed to officers he was flying from Portland, Oregon, to Manchester, New Hampshire, and had been drinking whiskey and cokes before boarding his first flight. He then consumed more of his preferred beverage during his layover in Chicago before boarding the American Eagle flight.

McCarthy also explained he had got up to use the restroom and was returning to his seat, but because of an unspecified “medical urination problem,” he relieved himself in the aisle.

The statements were part of his criminal complaint.

Records show McCarthy is scheduled to appear in court on July 25th for a public defender appointment hearing.

If convicted, he could face up to six months imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.
