Escaped ‘Vampire Serial Killer’ Ignites Manhunt

Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, infamously known as the ‘vampire serial killer,’ escaped from police custody in Nairobi’s Gigiri police station. Khalusha, 33, is not only a confessed serial killer accused of taking the lives of 42 women, including his wife, but he is also suspected of committing his heinous crimes in a ritualistic manner. His escape has prompted an extensive manhunt, shaking the already terrorized communities to their core.

The escape occurred in the early hours of an otherwise routine morning, when thirteen inmates broke free from their cells by cutting through a wire mesh in the station’s courtyard, known locally as the ‘basking bay.’ It was discovered only when officers arrived to serve breakfast. Khalusha’s breakout, alongside other detainees, has intensified the fear among residents and drawn severe criticism toward law enforcement agencies.

Escape Allegedly Facilitated by Police Officers

Authorities disclosed that the escape might have been an inside job, facilitated by at least eight officers, including station commanders. Acting Police Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli confirmed disciplinary measures against these officers are imminent. He stated, “Our preliminary investigations indicate that the escape was aided by insiders, considering that officers were deployed accordingly to guard the station.” Khalusha’s infiltration of law enforcement has not only raised questions on the existing security protocols but has also underlined possible corruption within the ranks.

“This was a high-value suspect who was to face serious charges,” Emil noted, emphasizing that Khalusha was described as “a vampire, a psychopath.”

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations head Mohamed Amin has labeled Khalusha a modern-day ‘Kenyan Ted Bundy.’ The overall investigation has still revealed some horrifying details, including the discovery of mutilated bodies and forensic examinations deciphering the extent of violence. DNA analyses and other forensic methods are actively working to identify the numerous victims, many of whom remain unknown due to advanced stages of decomposition.

Eerie Similarities to Past Crimes

Before his arrest in July, Khalusha’s criminal activities had already begun to unfold with the discovery of ten mutilated bodies in Nairobi’s Kware neighborhood. Among the macabre evidence found at his residence were a machete, gloves, plastic bags, and numerous identity cards of victims. Comparisons are being drawn to similarly high-profile murders, indicating that Khalusha’s criminal tendencies could align with global patterns of so-called ‘vampire’ serial killers.

“On opening the cell door, they found that 13 prisoners had escaped by cutting the wire mesh in the basking bay” – Kenya police spokeswoman Resila Onyango

The parallel investigations of his crimes link potential cult affiliations and patterns of serial murders to his gruesome operations. The public remains terrorized, and law enforcement must now work tirelessly to recapture this dangerous fugitive and underpin the security flaws that led to such a catastrophic breach.
