(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Wednesday, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) announced it had found a bag of cocaine at its Washington, D.C. headquarters.

In a press release, the USCP detailed how the discovery of the one-inch bag containing a “white powdery substance” was made on the carpeted hallway floor at around 1 p.m.

The substance, it revealed, had been field tested and was positive for cocaine.

According to the press release, the discovery was made in the “middle” of a hallway of the headquarters’s second floor, where furniture and other office supplies were being kept before quickly being reported to a supervisor.

The USCP suggested the hallway has high traffic and is frequently used by employees and contractors. The press release also explains that the hallways are located in the proximity of the offices for Prisoner Processing, Intel, Crime Scene, and Reports Processing.

The USCP revealed it was investigating the incident and would be conducting further testing on the substance in addition to DNA testing on the bag.

The discovery of the illicit substance comes less than ten months after a similar discovery was made in the White House.

The July 2nd, 2023, incident in the West Wing prompted a “precautionary” evacuation and investigation by the Secret Service Uniformed Division, who promptly acted following the illicit discovery in a “work area.”

After the D.C. Fire Department determined the item wasn’t hazardous, it was sent for further evaluation, and an investigation ensued about how the cocaine entered the White House, which the U.S. Secret Service says is still “pending.”
