(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Thursday, Cygnal, a Republican-leaning pollster, showed that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign was losing ground. According to the pollster, DeSantis, who has been trying to revamp his campaign, has now dropped to third place in the 2024 Republican primary race. In second place is businessman and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
Previously, DeSantis had been considered the best alternative to former President Donald Trump. However, the survey which included 2,000 voters from across the nation, found that only 10 percent of voters support DeSantis. Ramaswamy on the other hand had 11 percent of voter support.
Former President Trump continued to maintain a steady lead in the 2024 primary race, as 53 percent of the Republican base supported his nomination.
The campaign communications director for Ramaswamy’s campaign, Tricia McLaughlin in a recent interview with Newsweek noted that when Ramaswamy first launched his presidential bid no one knew him and he was not even registered in most of the Republican primary polls. She added that he is “just getting warmed up.”
A DeSantis campaign spokesperson told Newsweek that currently, the Republican primary race is a “two-man race” between the Florida governor and a candidate who was running in 2024 promising that he would do the things he had failed to do in 2016 despite his previous promises. They added that DeSantis is the only Republican candidate who has a chance at winning against President Joe Biden and that his campaign is going to be the only way to revive the country and stop it from continuing to decline.
Despite these claims, the poll clearly shows that DeSantis’ campaign is not going as well as Florida was hoping and that the situation is heading downhill.
