On Friday, a poll from Public Opinion Strategies, a Republican polling firm, found that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) was leading against President Biden in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup in Georgia and Arizona.

The poll found that while Biden managed to maintain his slight lead against all other possible 2024 opponents, including former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence, DeSantis managed to have a slight lead in the poll concerning those two key swing states.

The Arizona poll was conducted on May 15th through the 17th and found that in a hypothetical DeSantis-Biden race, DeSantis was leading with 47 percent, while Biden had 43 percent support in the state. In contrast, in a similar hypothetical matchup between Biden and Trump, Biden is leading 46-44, and in a matchup against Pence, he is leading with 45 percent while Pence received 43 percent.

In Georgia, the poll showed that DeSantis is leading with 45 percent of voters supporting him, while Biden had only 42 percent. In both a Biden-Trump and a Biden-Pence hypothetical matchup the results were identical, 44-43.

It is important to note that all of the results in this poll, which surveyed 500 voters in each state, fell within the 4.4 percentage point margin of error.

Public Opinion Strategies has a B+ rating on FiveThirtyEight, and their previous polls showed that DeSantis is leading Trump in Iowa and New Hampshire.

These latest polls focused on two key states that Biden had managed to narrowly win in 2020 against Trump.
