Last year, according to data from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the United States had 6,751 incidents of white supremacist propaganda circulated. This was a huge increase from the previous year when 4,876 incidents were recorded. The ADL has noted that this increase in incidents was brought forth by the growth of white supremacist groups.

Jonathan Greenblatt, president of ADL in a statement noted that “white supremacists and antisemites are trying to terrorize and harass Americans” and that their use of propaganda has really increased as they try to make their presence even more visible across the nation.

According to the report, three white supremacist groups – the Patriot Front, Goyim Defense League, and White Lives Matter – were responsible for 93% of the incidents reported in the last year, which included banners, posters, and events.

The number of antisemitic content also increased from 352 incidents in 2021 to 852 incidents in the last year. This increase is largely because of the Goyim Defense League’s growth over the past year, as well as because a number of other antisemitic groups were also formed in the last year.

National Security leaders have also repeatedly warned about the rise in white supremacist extremists and the increase in violent domestic extremists in the country. FBI Director Christopher Wray told lawmakers that “Racially motivated violent extremism, specifically of the sort that advocates for the superiority of the white race, is a persistent, evolving threat.” He added that racially motivated violent extremism was a large part of all domestic terrorism cases.
