(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Asheville, North Carolina, a Democrat-run tourist town has witnessed a large increase in violent crimes over the past few years. According to the latest reports in January, there was a 200 percent increase in break-ins within the city.
The Asheville Police Department had to respond to 41 break-ins in 2022 and so far in 2023, there have already been 11 reported break-ins. Asheville is a town of 90,000 people.
Chris Faber, the owner of a bar in downtown Asheville that has been targeted twice within the last month, said that the suspect had broken in and stolen $800 in cash and around 20 bottles of whiskey. Reportedly surveillance video also exists showing the suspect moving on to other neighboring businesses and stealing from their cash registers as well.
Faber told a local outlet that it was frustrating to leave his bar when he knew how frequent these break-ins had become. He added that currently, they did not have other ideas on what they can do to potentially prevent another break-in from taking place.
Faber is not the only bar owner to have experienced this. Chuckie McKelvey, another bar owner from Asheville said that a suspect had broken in on Jan. 18 and had stolen around $7 from the cash register and a few bottles of alcohol.
APD senior officer Robert Crume said that there were many businesses that were not even reporting the break-ins and that in general, they would just report it to their insurance company to claim the money. This is a result of how frustrated they have gotten over the incidents.
