Well, it’s been a few months since everyone got to direct all their impotent racial rage at the Oscars, and the activists on social media are bored. Thankfully, CBS appeased their need for drama in their lives; not through their actual shows, but through the racial makeup of those shows. Yes, apparently the network made a grave mistake when they unveiled six new shows for the upcoming fall season: they accidentally cast white males in the top roles.
This sent Twitter into a frenzy as they accused the network of not doing enough to encourage diversity on the air. CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller was forced to respond to the controversy this week.
“We are the network that has Madam Secretary and Two Broke Girls and Mom – we have lots of female leads, we have a great balance,” said Geller. “Actually our new series are more diverse this year than last year. When Doubt premieres, I’m happy to say it’s the first broadcast series to feature a transgender series regular played by a transgender actor. I think that’s phenomenal. We are definitely moving in the right direction.”
There’s a stomach-turning statement for you. We have a series with a transgender star, so we’re definitely moving in the right direction?
Well, that’s the state of things in Hollywood now. After introducing America to some of the most twisted values in civilized history, the industry must be shocked to see they are now too conservative for their viewers. These people won’t be satisfied until every role on television is played by a gay, black, transgender Muslim. In fact, even then they would probably find something to complain about.
Why don’t liberals understand that producers and networks make these decisions based on profit? They don’t give one whit about white supremacy or whatever liberals on social media are saying. They only care about getting the right demographic in front of the right advertisers in sufficient numbers. Now yes, the whole industry is lousy with liberals, so that’s going to come with a certain political point of view, but that’s incidental.
As absurd as affirmative action is in other areas of the economy, it’s even more ridiculous in a place like Hollywood. These people are not chosen as some kind of affront to someone else’s ethnicity, and businesses should not be forced to “represent” every single damn race in the country. They should be expected to be fair and nothing more.
Don’t these complainers have anything better to do?
