(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Friday evening, during an appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg weighed in on the running mate pick of former President Donald Trump. During the Republican National Convention Trump announced that his choice for vice president is Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

In his comments, Buttigieg drew a comparison between Trump’s new running mate and former Vice President Mike Pence, stating that he was hoping that on a human, and not a political level, he hoped that things would go better for Vance than they had gone for Pence.

While Pence had been the governor of Indiana, Buttigieg had served as the South Bend, Indiana mayor. He noted that he had seen why Pence had to sacrifice his Evangelical values during his time serving in the Trump administration.

On Thursday, Trump officially accepted the Republican nomination during the convention in Milwaukee. However, Buttigieg warned that Vance was just repeating history by being on the presidential ticket, and argued that this was just a “power grab.”

He added that during his time at Harvard, he had often met people like him who would do what was necessary to get ahead. As he pointed out 5 years ago it had looked like Vance was anti-Trump Republican.

In 2016, during Trump’s first presidential campaign, Vance had criticized him heavily stating he was “cultural heroin” and was even reported to have likened him to Hitler during a private conversation.

In 2022 Vance won a seat in the Senate for the first time and since then he has become a Trump loyalist.
