It must be nice to be a millionaire HBO comedian/host who doesn’t really have to worry about the job market or the economy or the ability of blue collar workers to make it through another month of bills. That kind of freedom allows you to go on your petty little television show and claim, with no apparent sarcasm, that you would like to see the economy fail simply because it would probably bring about the end of Donald Trump’s presidency in 2020.
On his show Friday, Bill Maher asked guest Shermichael Singleton about the economy under the current administration.
“It’s going well,” Singleton admitted. “For now.”
Maher replied: “Thank you, that’s my question. I feel like the bottom has to fall out at some point, and by the way, I’m hoping for it.
“I think one way you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy,” Maher continued. “So please, bring on the recession. Sorry if that hurts people, but it’s either root for a recession or you lose your democracy.”
It’s not like we needed it, but this is yet another glimpse into the mind of a liberal who suffers from that all-encompassing, media-driven disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.
We have to admit, we’re a little disappointed in Bill for this comment. Maher spends every week on his show treating Trump like he’s a buffoonish threat to America, yes, but he’s been known to show a little bit of common sense every now and then. He’s one of the only liberals willing to call out foolishness and absurdity on his own side, which automatically makes him better than all of the Samantha Bees and John Olivers put together. He recognizes the threat Islamism poses to the West, and that makes him smarter than 99% of Democrats.
But a statement like this, which did not in any way seem to be a joke, shows you that even the brightest bulbs on the left are completely blinded by their own hatred for this president. From the top of the Democratic Party to the top of Hollywood to the top of Twitter, liberal America has brainwashed itself into believing that Donald Trump is the new Hitler, and they just can’t get the idea out of their heads no matter what evidence they have to the contrary. They are stunned – STUNNED – that Trump, far from destroying America, has actually brought this country to heights it hasn’t seen in at LEAST eight years. Stunned, confused, and baffled. And so they make idiot proclamations like this one, wherein they actively root for America’s doom…just so what? So they can be “right?”
We don’t get it, but maybe that’s for the best.
