The White House on Monday blasted the social media attacks on Anthony Fauci calling them dangerous. This is after Twitter owner Elon Musk posted a tweet in which he mocked Fauci and his expertise.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, was recently asked about Musk’s tweets and his comments about Fauci. In response, Jean-Pierre noted how “incredibly dangerous” these “personal attacks” were. She added that they are completely disgusting especially since Fauci has served under seven Presidents, both Republicans and Democrats and has devoted his career to helping America’s public health. She added that this is something that “we should be thankful to him about.”
Over the past weekend, Musk caused a Social Media storm after he posted that his “pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.” He then proceeded to share a meme in which Fauci could be seen telling Biden, “Just one more lockdown, my king.”
Musk had previously called the COVID-19 virus “dumb,” and following his purchase of Twitter, he got rid of all of the company’s policies regarding COVID-19 misinformation.
Fauci recently announced that he would be retiring at the end of the year after having spent decades as the government’s top expert on infectious diseases. He had also been integral in leading the COVID-19 response for the Biden administration.
