(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Tuesday, Decision Desk HQ predicted that President Biden would win in the Democratic primary in New Hampshire as a write-in candidate following a grassroots initiative.
Biden was not included in the state’s primary ballot as he had not filed for the New Hampshire primary in order to remain in compliance with the new Democratic National Committee primary calendar. However, despite this decision, he still ended up winning the race on Tuesday. However, this victory is not going to be awarding him any delegates.
Still, Biden’s success in the primary election is an important step for the President as a loss could have been a setback as he heads toward the 2024 general election.
Voters in New Hampshire had been encouraged by Biden allies to still vote for the President by writing out a variation of Joe Biden’s name. This unusual voting method comes after the Democratic National Committee decided that South Carolina would replace New Hampshire as the first in the state. This decision was in part made because of the role South Carolina had played in Biden’s victory in 2020.
Biden, who led the push for the primary calendar to be restructured, has repeatedly claimed that this choice would promote diverse voices in the primary race.
However, New Hampshire Democrats had opposed the move and in November the New Hampshire state Legislature declined the push to have its primary date changed. They further pointed out that the state law requires that the state holds its election at least seven days before any other primary election is held.
