(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – In Thursday’s address, President Biden warned migrants to not “just show up” at the border while announcing new plans that would help with the border crisis. The new plan would provide migrants the option to apply for asylum to the U.S. from where they were. He added that this would be the new legal pathway and that those who just appeared at the border would be turned away.

The new steps announced by the Biden administration have in large part aimed to address the influx of Venezuelans traveling through Mexico in order to reach the border. A phone app will also be available to help immigrants apply for asylum more easily. Through the app, migrants will be able to schedule appointments at the port of entry and file their asylum claims without ever having to enter the U.S. illegally.

Another measure was announced by Biden which would extend the parole program to people from Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Haiti. He added that those who do not go through the legal process would not be eligible to receive parole under the new program.

He continued by reaffirming that all of the actions they were taking, were meant to help better the situation at the border, but that these measures were not capable of completely fixing the situation.

On Sunday, Biden is set to have his first border visit since being elected in office. He will visit El Paso, Texas ahead of his visit to Mexico City for the North American Leaders’ Summit.
