(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – In Tuesday’s State of the Union address, President Biden did not talk at all about immigration and instead placed his attention on the importance of bipartisanship.

Close to an hour into his speech Biden shortly referred to immigration but made sure to frame it as a bipartisan issue that required cooperation. In fact, in his speech, he alleged that migration had always been a bipartisan issue before and that it was best if they returned to that.

President Biden then continued by focusing on other themes in his speech, often touting the successes of his administration. As he pointed out during his administration there has been a record number of border personnel that have really increased fentanyl seizures. Biden also referred to the positive results of his new extended immigration parole plan, which led to a great reduction in illegal crossings within its first month. The plan is focused on reducing immigration from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

However, Biden also pointed out that the only way for the situation at the border to be fixed is if Congress takes action. The GOP-led House has so far not focused on immigration policy initiatives and instead has placed more of its attention on oversight of the administration.

Biden called for comprehensive immigration reform, but also noted if that was not possible he would at least work to create a pathway to citizenship for “Dreamers” and those in the UK with temporary status.
