(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Biden rejected a request by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to allow Kyiv to use U.S. weapons to strike targets deep within Russia.

On Thursday, President Joe Biden dismissed Zelenskyy’s recent calls for the U.S. to lift restrictions on their weapons to allow Ukraine to strike Russian targets.

Biden queried whether it would make sense for Zelenskyy to have “the capacity to strike Moscow, strike the Kremlin?” Noting that “It wouldn’t.”

Instead, Biden insisted the real question was how Zelenskyy could “best use… the weaponry he has?”

Biden noted he had provided Ukraine with “more long range” and “defensive capacity,” and was taking the guidance of the U.S. military’s chief of staff and secretary of defense in addition to his intelligence advisors, explaining they were working daily to ascertain “how far [Ukraine] should go in.”

Zelenskyy had pleaded for weapon limitations to be lifted in the final hours of the NATO summit in Washington, D.C. The Ukraine President suggested that the only way to prevail against Russia would be to “lift all the limitations.”

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the U.S. has been adamant: Ukraine could not use weapons to strike within Russian territory.

That restriction came as a result of concerns doing so would lead to a broader conflict with Moscow that would include NATO allies.

However, in May, to allow Ukraine to defend Kharviv — the country’s second-largest city 12 miles from the Russian border — Biden partially lifted the restriction.

This week, Great Britain also revealed it would allow Ukraine to use British-provided long-range missiles to strike deeper within Russia.

Although other countries, like Germany, are committed to following the U.S.’s lead.

After the NATO summit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that while NATO countries are committed to “support Ukraine to the maximum,” it should avoid escalating tensions “between Russia and NATO.”
