(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Abigail Castillo, who intended to cross into the United States illegally stated that despite hearing President Joe Biden’s plan to halt asylum, she proceeded with her plans to cross with her toddler son in the hopes that it would not be too late.
On Wednesday, Castillo revealed that she had heard news of the order. After reaching the border, she and her son were taken to a Border Patrol van that included around two dozen other immigrants. Since Castillo and the others had missed the new deadline, they now had to face the new deportation rule.
President Biden used an executive order to close the border to asylum seekers if the number of arrests for illegal crossings per day crossed a 2,500 limit. On Wednesday, the threshold set by the President had been met leaving the measure to take place at 12:01 a.m.
Two Homeland Security senior officials confirmed that on Wednesday, following the implementation of the new rule, they started with the deportations. However, there have so far not been any reports regarding the number of people who have been deported. The officials informed reporters of this move on the condition that their names remain anonymous.
Sergi Franco, another immigrant who made the journey along with his baby girl stated that he had been confident that he would be able to receive asylum in the United States. He claimed to have evidence to prove his eligibility but did not anticipate the new order.
