(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Following the recent mass shootings across the country, President Joe Biden once again started pushing for gun restrictions. Within the last few days, at least nine people have died while a dozen others have been injured during shootings that took place in Philadelphia, Fort Worth, Baltimore, and Wichita.
This year, the U.S. has had the highest number of mass killings and deaths in a single year in its history. During his latest speech, Biden also referred to the 2022 Independence Day mass shooting when a man in Highland Park, Illinois, killed seven people using an assault rifle during the celebratory parade. Following the mass shooting, state legislators were quick to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines within the state.
Biden praised those efforts, adding that the lawmakers had helped save many lives. However, he added that there is still a lot more to do – not only in Illinois but also across the country – in order to address the epidemic of gun violence which has been destroying communities throughout the nation.
Additionally, Biden called for lawmakers to also pass safe gun storage requirements and end the immunity of gun manufacturers from liability, as well as to pass further universal background checks. Biden called on all other states to also follow the lead set by Illinois and for Republican lawmakers to discuss common-sense gun regulations that the majority of Americans support.
Finally, he expressed condolences to all those who have lost people to gun violence and noted that they are praying for communities to become free from gun violence.
