(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – Bill Barr, the Former Attorney General has warned Republicans to be cautious not to be caught in former President Trump’s “carnage,” following the recent superseding indictment which led to Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos de Oliveira being charged in connection to the mishandling of classified documents.
In Thursday’s superseding indictment, Trump, Oliveira, and co-defendant Walt Nauta were all charged over allegedly assisting in the deletion of surveillance footage from Mar-a-Lago. In an interview with CNN on Wednesday night Barr argued that the two people who have now been brought into the Mar-a-Lago case represent the Republicans who believe that they are obliged to defend Trump in everything he does.
He added that Republicans should “be careful” or they might end up being a “part of the carnage.”
The Department of Justice in their additional charges points towards Trump’s attempts to have the surveillance footage from Mar-a-Lago deleted, as well as his attempts to retain classified military documents according to a claim he had made in a 2021 meeting.
Barr pointed out that Trump in his wake leaves behind ruined lives, and that all those who had marched into the Capitol had fallen because of the support they showed Trump.
On Tuesday, Trump was indicted on four counts relating to his attempts to remain in the White House after losing the 2020 presidential election.
Special Counsel Jack Smith in the 45-page indictment points out how the former President had continued to perpetuate false claims about winning the 2020 presidential election despite knowing this was not true. The charges against Trump include conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy against rights, a conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and obstruction of an official proceeding.
