(PatriotNewsDaily.com) – On Wednesday, March for Our Lives, a gun violence prevention group endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president. This is the first time that the group has made an official endorsement of a candidate. In their endorsement, the group pointed out that Harris has been a leader in pushing for gun violence prevention and has been engaging with young Americans.

March for Our Lives was established after the 2019 school shooting in Parkland, Florida. The group has played an important part in putting pressure on President Biden to create an office that would focus on curbing gun violence. The office was created in September and Harris was placed as its leader.

The endorsement highlighted Harris’s consistent advocacy for gun safety, noting her regular meetings with advocates and survivors of gun violence during her vice presidency.

The group’s co-founder David Hogg, who is a Parkland shooting survivor, has praised Harris for her work in gun prevention and for actively listening to the fears of young Americans. The group has also highlighted Harris’s role in hosting the 2020 Presidential Gun Safety Forum with Giffords, another notable gun prevention group. Giffords was founded by former Rep. Gabby Giffords, who is permanently disabled after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head, and her husband Sen. Mark Kelly.

Kelly is believed to be on Harris’s possible shortlist of running mates for the upcoming election.

Following President Biden’s announcement on Sunday that he would no longer seek reelection, Harris is considered the most likely Democratic nominee. Biden has already endorsed Harris’ presidential campaign.
