In an interview with The Daily Caller this week, President Donald Trump expressed surprise that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) had come out in defense of a vile abortion bill sponsored by State Del. Kathy Tran.
“I’m surprised that he did that,” Trump said. “I’ve met him a number of times.”
Of Tran and her advocacy of a bill that would allow women to terminate a pregnancy right up until the seconds before the baby is born, Trump could only offer disgust.
“I thought it was terrible,” he said. “Do you remember when I said Hillary Clinton was willing to rip a baby out of the womb? That’s what it is, that’s what they’re doing – it’s terrible.”
In an interview on Wednesday, Northam explained how the legislation would be carried out in situations where the infant was already on its way.
“If a mother is in labor,” he said, “the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated, if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and mother.”
And if the mother and family don’t desire to resuscitate the infant…well, you know the rest.
“This is going to lift up the whole pro-life movement like maybe it’s never been lifted up before,” mused President Trump. “The pro-life movement is very much a 50-50 issue, actually it’s gained a point or two over the years. I think this will very much lift up the issue because people have never thought of it in those terms.”
At a time in our history where we have New York passing some of the most expansive abortion protections in the country and Planned Parenthood telling women to be “proud” of their decision to kill their unborn children, it was only a matter of time before we saw Democrat lawmakers actively endorsing what can only be termed infanticide. We have now arrived at that moment, and you can bet that Virginia will not be the last state to contemplate leaving the decision over whether or not to kill a live, viable infant to “a woman and her doctor.”
Can’t oppress women, after all. Can’t take away their “constitutional right” to an abortion, God knows. If it means snuffing out an innocent life or two along the way, hey, whose to say when life really begins, anyway? Hell, it might not really be a “person” until it hits second or third grade. All depends on how inconvenienced the mother is at any given time.
Seriously, America: What the HELL are we doing?
