Donald Trump, in a series of tweets on Sunday, nailed Hillary Clinton on her dangerous stances on foreign policy, refugees, and Islamic terrorism. One by one, he set the stage for what promises to be an explosive general election campaign:
“Crooked Hillary Clinton’s foreign interventions unleashed ISIS in Syria, Iraq, and Libya,” he wrote. “She is reckless and dangerous.”
In another tweet, he said: “How can Crooked Hillary say she cares about women when she is silent on radical Islam, which horribly oppresses women?”
Finally, Trump rounded out the trifecta by saying, “Crooked Hillary wants a radical 500% increase in Syrian refugees. We can’t allow this. Time to get smart and protect America!”
At a time when the splash page on Hillary’s site says: We can’t risk a Donald Trump Presidency, these attacks put a mirror up against the former secretary of state. Oh, we can’t risk Trump? What exactly are we risking by putting you in the White House? If you’re the “safe” choice, maybe we need a little bit of risk in our lives right now.
It also throws back the curtain on one of the media’s biggest lies: That Barack Obama’s presidency has been a success. They don’t even question this, you’ll notice. They regard Obama as the very picture of infallibility, and this is how he’s portrayed in virtually every mainstream broadcast. If they shine even the dimmest spotlight on his failures, they make damn sure to explain that it was those damn Republican obstructionists in Congress who kept him from realizing his beautiful vision.
Hillary, in denigrating her persistent primary foe, has often said that Bernie Sanders hasn’t ever faced the brutality of true political opposition. But as true as that may be, she has been riding pretty for the last six months as well. How so? Well, when was the last time you saw her forced to respond to a real criticism of Obama’s presidency? The presidency that she has virtually adopted as her own, by the way.
When Trump starts hitting her with that ammunition – when people start to realize what they’re really voting for when they vote for Hillary – she may finally realize that her odds of being president are longer than she thought.
