So you can put this into the “You Should Have Thought About That Before You Started” column. On Time Magazine’s website on Tuesday, writer Tessa Berenson fretted that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh might not be ready to forget what happened to him once he found himself sitting on the nation’s highest bench. Or as she puts it, “Even if Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed as a Supreme Court justice, he will carry scars from the brutal process to get him there.”
That’s one way to put it. Another way: He has seen through the treachery and deceit that comprises modern Democratic Party politics, and he will remember it when left-wing groups bring cases before the Supreme Court. He will remember it all too well.
“Blaming Democrats for his ordeal could be a sign that Kavanaugh would carry that anger to the high court and stay rigidly with the Justices nominated by Republican presidents,” she writes before turning to John Q. Barrett of St. John’s University School of Law.
“What he said was so explicitly partisan, so permanently political, so grudge-bearing, that I don’t see how somebody puts on a new robe, goes to a new court and forgets about that,” says Barrett. “The public will never forget about that. This guy, if he’s going to be confirmed, will now be heckled and protested and a pariah for the rest of his life for a segment of the country.”
Wow. Protested and a pariah? For having the indecency to be a victim of an extraordinary, unprecedented smear campaign cooked up by the Democratic Party? For having the unmitigated gall to call out that smear campaign for what it was? For THAT, he deserves to be considered an illegitimate Supreme Court justice for the rest of his life? Here’s hoping we don’t see Mr. Barrett nominated for the Supreme Court anytime soon. Sounds like he’s harboring a few grudges of his own.
It’s hard to really be surprised by anything the left says anymore, but it still irks us that they can do what they did to this man and then use HIS REACTION against him. These are the same people who gave us the term “victim blaming” and “tone policing.” But then again, they also invented “toxic masculinity,” which hasn’t stopped them from mocking Kavanaugh for getting choked up in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Hopefully, enough voters can see how Democrats and the media put this man into the very definition of a no-win situation that he will not have to endure the lifetime of distrust and “protests” predicted above. Brett Kavanaugh did not deserve what happened to him over the last two weeks, and he certainly would not deserve that.
