Back in the late 1990s, Kellyanne and George Conway were on the same page. Both of them wanted to see then-President Bill Clinton impeached for committing perjury, tampering with witnesses, and generally making a perverted fool of himself in the Oval Office.
But when Kellyanne took a job in 2016 to work for Republican candidate-turned-President Donald Trump, their paths diverged. Kellyanne became one of Trump’s most vocal, loyal supporters on television while her husband grew more and more disenchanted and angry in the private sector. Soon enough, George’s hatred of Trump eclipsed the respect he had for his wife. That’s when the tweeting began.
This week, George Conway went further than usual, suggesting on Twitter that the President is suffering from mental illness and should step down. This finally pushed Trump past the breaking point, and he responded to Conway on the site.
“George Conway, often referred to as Mr. Kellyanne Conway by those who know him, is VERY jealous of his wife’s success & angry that I, with her help, didn’t give him the job he so desperately wanted,” Trump tweeted on Wednesday. “I barely know him but just take a look, a stone cold LOSER & husband from hell!”
In an interview with Politico, Kellyanne Conway discussed getting caught in the middle of the main two men in her life and explained why she didn’t think it was out of line for her boss to finally respond to her husband’s attacks.
“He left it alone for months out of respect for me,” Conway said. “But you think he shouldn’t respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder? You think he should just take that sitting down?
“The president is obviously defending me,” she continued. “He could privately say to me, ‘Honey you’re a distraction. We love you. You’ll always be a part of the family but go be with your kids. They need you. Go make a million dollars an hour. Go do that honey.’ It’s the opposite.”
We really feel bad for Kellyanne. Not only does she have to endure the humiliation of working for Trump while her husband is making a public ass out of himself, she then has to take shots from the media, where everyone wants to know why she isn’t standing by her (other) man. Well, why would she? What kind of husband does what George Conway is doing? How can he sleep at night?
