“The Job is Dead”: NYPD Officer Laments Declining Law Enforcement Morale

In an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Saturday morning, an anonymous NYPD officer spoke to host Will Cain about the destructive and demoralizing effect anti-police protests and anti-police leadership has had on law enforcement in New York City. The officer said that many of his colleagues were choosing to retire early or find other employment amidst the crisis. He said that he was not optimistic about the city’s ability to replace them with good police, either.

“The term for the NYPD that is going around in every command in the city is ‘the job is dead.’ You would be crazy to take this job at this day and age,” the officer said. “When I became a police officer many years ago, I never thought that I would have to put this uniform on and be looked at as the enemy and to be hated. And it’s not fair because we sacrifice ourselves every day. No matter what your skin color is, it’s sad. In my tenure here at NYPD I can never ever imagine that it would be this bad, as far as not being supported.”

After Cain brought up the election, the officer said that he does not have confidence that the Biden/Harris ticket supports police. On the other hand, he said there was no doubt that President Trump “absolutely supports” the boys in blue.

Acknowledging that Biden has said that he does not specifically support defunding police (though, in reality, he has endorsed redistributing funds, which comes down to the same thing), the officer said that anything less than total condemnation of the protesters was unacceptable.

“People who allow these protesters to talk about how they want to defund the police department, we’re there to make sure that nothing happens to them, but they are the ones saying that they want us dead,” he said.

It’s a sad situation. Actually, it’s more than sad. It’s outright terrifying. Unless these cities elect new, Republican, law-and-order leaders (fat chance of that), we are going to see a spike in crime that this country hasn’t seen since the 1980s. After three decades straight of falling crime rates, we’re going to regress into lawlessness and chaos. We would almost accuse Democrats and Black Lives Matter of wanting exactly that outcome.

You know, almost.
