President Donald Trump may not take a knee for the national anthem and he may support the police, but there’s not a single protester in all 50 states who has done more to help black Americans than him. Further evidence of this obvious face came this week when the White House Council of Economic Advisers released a study showing how much the president’s opportunity zones initiative had helped economically-distressed areas.
From Fox Business:
So-called opportunity zones in economically distressed areas drew $75 billion in private investment in two years, thanks to a program created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, according to a study from the White House Council of Economic Advisers released on Monday.
“This $75 billion in two years is remarkable because as the program was put together, Secretary [Steven] Mnuchin and his group predicted $100 billion over 10 years,” Housing and Urban Development Sec. Ben Carson first announced on “Mornings with Maria.” “The Council of Economic Advisers also predicts that that will lift one million people out of poverty.”
Compared to non-opportunity zones, opportunity zones have seen a 29% increase in economic investment from the second quarter of 2018 to the fourth quarter of 2019, Carson said.
“It’s having a profound effect, as far as property values are concerned, they go up 1.1% just with the announcement of you being in an opportunity zone,” he said. “So these things are actually working extremely well.”
This week, President Trump intends to order federal agencies to use Opportunity Zones for any additional expansion of the government as well. This will also move more jobs into these zones and spur improvement in some of the country’s poorest neighborhoods. This is the kind of meaningful change that can actually make a positive difference for black America, quite unlike defunding the police and the other nonsense that the left-wing activists are coming up with these days.
This is what really makes us crazy when Democrats and their cheerleaders in the media accuse Trump of being a racist. Oh no, he called some African countries “s*itholes.” Sound the alarm! Oh no, he called MS-13 gangsters “animals.” How dreadful. Oh no, he warned that Democrats are going to turn the suburbs into low-income apartment blocks. We’re still not sure how that one is racist, but the left has an unending capacity to expand that definition as needed.
If black voters really look at this president on a policy level, they will not hesitate to vote for Trump in November. Unfortunately, it’s really challenging to get past all the propaganda put out there by the media and the Democratic Party. Simple facts aren’t nearly as powerful as misleading police videos, after all. Too bad.
