Daniel Sprague was having a good time. He was celebrating his 50th birthday at a Nashville bar and minding his own business with friends and family. On his head he wore a gag gift given to him by his wife: A red baseball cap that said “Make 50 Great Again” in the style of the infamous MAGA hats made popular by President Donald Trump.
In an interview with local news station WSMV, Sprague said that hat attracted a lot of positive attention from the other people in the bar.
“People were just coming up to me and, you know, just loving the little word play on the hat and taking pictures and wishing me happy birthday,” Sprague said.
But one woman couldn’t let Sprague have his fun.
“At one point,” he said, “A female came up from behind me, spun me around, and punched me in the face and then grabbed my hat off my head and was just yelling, ‘How dare you.'”
The punch was hard enough to leave a pretty significant laceration down the side of Sprague’s face.
“People have different views, but we’re not supposed to take it out on each other,” Sprague lamented.
Yeah, well, intolerant leftists do a lot of things “we’re not supposed” to do as a society.
Sadly, this is far from the first time a Trump supporter has been attacked for wearing the signature red hat.
Last August, a man named Jahangir Turan, 35, was savagely attacked by a group of a dozen thugs in New York City as he was walking back from his visit to Trump Plaza. The hooligans surrounded Turan, “chanted anti-Trump stuff” and eventually escalated their taunts to a physical attack that left the victim looking like he just went 15 rounds with Apollo Creed.
In April, Maryland man Atsu Mable was taking a stroll after dinner in a Washington, D.C. suburb when he was accosted by two men who told him, “You shouldn’t be wearing that hat, bro.” Mable told the two to mind their own business, at which point they punched him in the back, stole his possessions, and destroyed them.
And of course few of us will ever forget the way the whole friggin’ country attacked Nicholas Sandmann, the Covington Christian teen whose biggest sin was to wear the MAGA cap while smiling at a deranged Indian.
We’re not sure why leftist kooks think they are entitled to viciously attack Americans who support the President of the United States, but one of these days, they are going to pick the wrong fight.
Then, of course, we’ll undoubtedly hear all about the simmering rage and toxic masculinity of Trump supporters…
