Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has apparently learned nothing from the intense backlash that greeted her last major public pronouncements. When Waters, in an unhinged rant, urged her supporters to track down Trump administration officials wherever they might be found in public and hound them out of gas stations, restaurants, and department stores, even the Democratic Party leadership felt it necessary to (gently) rebuke her.
On the other side of the aisle, Republicans were ready to pass a resolution censuring the low-IQ Democrat and call for her resignation.
And, naturally, there were some defenders, including the Black Panthers who showed up outside her office last week to bash America and burn the flag. A disgusting display, to be sure, but it was interesting to get a first hand glimpse at the kind of people who support this woman. Can’t say it was much of a surprise.
Waters was back at it again this week, marveling to the hosts on CNBC that Americans were simply going about their lives instead of rioting against President Trump.
“I think he’s dangerous,” she said. “I don’t know why people take it. I think Americans should be out in the streets screaming to the top of their voice. Do something. Make something happen.”
Do something about what? The booming economy which has sent black unemployment rates plummeting to their lowest point in decades? The effective immigration control policies that have put us on track to finally enforcing U.S. law for the first time in a long time? The tariffs and America-first policies that have the European Union buckling under the pressure (and will soon bring China to heel)? What, exactly, should Americans be so upset about? That the president insulted you on Twitter? Nah, that’s just another checkmark in the Winning column.
“A lot of people call it racism,” she said of Trump’s insults. “A lot of people call it– tactics that he has employed that he’s gotten from the Kremlin and Putin, and the way that they handle things.”
Thankfully, we have a president equally willing to insult politicians from every race, creed, or gender. But sure, sure, racism. Isn’t everything? By the way, can someone confirm that Putin is regularly on Twitter insulting the opposition party in such a humorous way? Since these are Kremlin tactics that Trump is using, we would expect the examples to be plentiful.
“I don’t care what he says. He can do whatever he wants to,” said Waters. “I know what I’m going to think about him. I think that this man does not deserve to be the president of the United States. He is one of the most deplorable people I’ve ever encountered in my life.”
Why, she must be racist against white people to say such a thing! She must have picked up that kind of language from al-Qaeda!
Well, we’re kind of glad Congress didn’t force Maxine to resign. As long as she’s out there embarrassing herself and the Democratic Party, we’ll never be bored.
