You could fill the Pacific Ocean with the reams that have been written about hoaxster extraordinaire Adam Schiff and the lies he told the American public about the Trump/Russia investigation conducted by the House Intelligence Committee. Nonetheless, Tuesday’s editorial in the Wall Street Journal takes that writing to a new level.
In it, the paper accuses Schiff, quite credibly, of knowing all along that the investigation would never lead to evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow. And nonetheless, the California Democrat went forward, determined to take Trump’s presidency down with nothing more than rumors, false accusations, and lies.
“The House Intelligence Committee last week released 57 transcripts of interviews it conducted in its investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election. The committee probe started in January 2017 under then-Chair Devin Nunes and concluded in March 2018 with a report finding no evidence that the Trump campaign conspired with the Kremlin,” the Journal’s editorial board wrote. “Most of the transcripts were ready for release long ago, but Mr. Schiff oddly refused to release them after he became chairman in 2019. He only released them last week when the White House threatened to do it first.”
Only because Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell got involved do we now know why Schiff was so eager to keep those transcripts under lock and key. They show that from the opening days of the so-called collusion hoax, Schiff was confronted with witness after witness, all of whom debunked the central claim of the left: That Trump and Putin were in cahoots to steal the election, hack the DNC, and perpetrate the greatest election fraud in U.S. history. Schiff knew it from the start…and yet he kept peddling that garbage theory to the House, to his constituents, and to the American public as a whole.
“On it went, a parade of former Obama officials who declared under oath they’d seen no evidence of collusion or conspiracy—Susan Rice, Ben Rhodes, Samantha Power,” the WSJ explains. “Interviews with Trump campaign or Administration officials also yielded no collusion evidence. Mr. Schiff had access to these transcripts even as he claimed he had ‘ample’ proof of collusion and wrote his false report.”
At long last, Schiff’s lies were exposed by the Mueller Report, which concluded that there was no reason to believe that the Trump campaign cooperated with Russia in 2016’s election meddling. The left’s grand savior came through in the end…with an inconvenient truth. All of the Democrats’ big scary theories were lies.
And Adam Schiff was the biggest liar of them all.
