Rumor has it that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is (finally) wrapping up his investigation into Russian election interference and will soon present his final report to the Justice Department. That report has been the focus of much ballyhoo and expectation on both sides of the political divide, but a new USA Today poll shows that Mueller might have waited just a little too long to bring this thing home.
According to the survey, half of all Americans now believe that Mueller has been on a “witch hunt” against the president, which means that many people will be viewing the conclusions in the report with an extremely skeptical eye. Part and parcel to that finding, the poll also discovered that desire to see House Democrats impeach Trump is fading. Only 28% of Americans now want to see the House consider impeaching the president, which is down ten points from October. That, coincidentally, is the same number of Americans who believe Mueller’s report will be “fair and accurate.”
And by “coincidentally,” we mean: these are the exact same brainwashed liberals.
For his part, Trump has been ramping up his attacks on the Mueller investigation and its counterpart in the Democrat-controlled House.
“So, if there was knowingly & acknowledged to be ‘zero’ crime when the Special Counsel was appointed, and if the appointment was made based on the Fake Dossier (paid for by Crooked Hillary) and now disgraced Andrew McCabe (he & all stated no crime), then the Special Counsel should never have been appointed and there should be no Mueller Report,” Trump tweeted on Friday. “This was an illegal & conflicted investigation in search of a crime. Russian Collusion was nothing more than an excuse by the Democrats for losing an Election that they thought they were going to win. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN TO A PRESIDENT AGAIN!”
And for all of the media coverage which treats Robert Mueller like a saint and Donald Trump like a treasonous snake, it seems that the American people are slowly but surely coming to see it Trump’s way. This investigation has gone on too long with far too little fruit to show for its millions spent. As Trump said, this was an investigation in search of a crime, and the only ones they found among Trump’s associates either had nothing at all to do with 2016 or were process crimes having to do with lying to investigators. So far, there has been exactly zero evidence to suggest that the left’s theory of collusion has any merit whatsoever.
Maybe the long-awaited Mueller report will change that. But then, by the time it arrives, will there be anyone left to believe it?
