The liberal media, when they don’t like something that President Trump says, likes to use the phrase “without evidence” to make it appear as though he’s lying.
Trump, Without Evidence, Claims That the New York Times is Run By a Bunch of Snobby Leftists. That kind of thing.
They’ll use this kind of headline even if ample evidence exists to prove whatever claim Trump was making. The only thing it really conveys, after all, is that Trump didn’t provide the evidence there and then. So it’s almost always “technically” true. Which, if you’re a newspaper that only exists to serve as propaganda for the Democratic Party, is true enough for the presses.
In any event, apparently the Department of Homeland Security wanted to pre-emptively ward off those “without evidence” headlines that were sure to follow Trump’s claim that many migrants are called “grabbers” because they take children that don’t belong to them and try to cross into the U.S. as illegitimate family units. So they released data on Tuesday proving that, indeed, this is a serious epidemic at the border.
“In response to the misreporting from multiple outlets, I wanted to highlight the rampant fraud taking place at our Southern border,” said DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in a statement. “Aliens know that if they bring ANY minor with them they will be apprehended by Border Patrol and released into the interior of the United States. This is a direct result of the Clinton-era Flores Settlement decree that has created a massive loophole which allows alien family units to illegally cross the border and enter the United States after a short detention.
“This well-known loophole acts a magnet for family units and entices smugglers to use children as a way to gain access to the United States by posing a family unit,” she continued. “Word has gotten out. Over the last two years, we have seen a 110 percent increase in male adults showing up at the border with minors. Further from April 19, 2018 to September 30, 2018, 507 aliens were encountered as a family unit and were separated as they were not a legitimate family unit.”
This fraud could have been stopped earlier in the year, when the Trump administration was exercising a “zero tolerance” policy at the border and separating children from their parents. This, of course, sparked a complete frenzy in the media as liberals hurled around terms like “concentration camps” in one of their saddest displays of hysteria. Trump eventually acquiesced and began detaining families together. Since then, the border has been overrun with a surge of families – legit or not – coming to the U.S.
The media is determined to portray these illegal immigrants as innocent victims of circumstance whose only crime is wanting to live in a better country. It’s up to Trump and his allies to present the real story, much of which can be seen in the form of rocks hurled across the border fence at our law enforcement officers.
